Stanley Chin
Festival Director
Stanley Chin is a distinguished musician, educator, and leader with extensive experience in music performance, education, and especially in production and management. As the Festival Director of the Asia Pacific Arts Festival (APAF), Stanley’s role is pivotal in shaping the festival’s vision and execution, ensuring it remains a premier event that celebrates artistic excellence and cultural diversity. He has successfully run arts festivals in numerous countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Taiwan, Japan, and Hong Kong-China.
Stanley holds multiple professional roles. He is the Festival Director of the Asia Pacific Arts Festival, the Artistic Advisor for the Taiwan International Classical & Traditional Music Competition, and the President of the Malaysian Association of Love for Ukulele Music (PPMUM).
In terms of his educational background, Stanley earned a Master in Business Administration (EMBA) from Riviera University, France. He also holds a Bachelor of Music (Audio Production) from the National Academy of Arts Culture and Heritage (Aswara) and a Diploma in Music from the Malaysia Institute of Art (MIA).
Stanley’s journey in music began with a profound passion for guitar performance and audio production. This passion earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Rector Award from the National Academy of Arts Culture and Heritage and a full scholarship from the Malaysian Institute of Art. His guitar performances have graced renowned stages such as the Japan Club Kuala Lumpur, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Stanley’s expertise shines in his production work, where he has been instrumental in organizing and managing high-profile events. As the Producer of ShowTime, PAC & UT programs, Stanley oversees every aspect of the production process. From conceptualizing themes to coordinating with artists and technical teams, he ensures each performance is a seamless and captivating experience. His blend of artistic vision and meticulous planning has led to productions that are both innovative and highly acclaimed.
In his role with the Japan-Malaysia Legacy Concerts, Stanley’s production management skills were pivotal in orchestrating concerts that celebrated the cultural heritage of both nations. His attention to detail and commitment to excellence ensured that these events not only met but exceeded audience expectations, fostering a greater appreciation for the arts.
Stanley’s work with the PPMUM Ukestra involves producing performances that highlight the versatility and charm of the ukulele. By arranging pieces that span various genres, he showcases the instrument’s unique qualities and engages audiences of all ages. His productions are known for their creativity, professionalism, and ability to connect with listeners on a profound level.
Stanley continues to push the boundaries of musical production, consistently delivering shows that are innovative, engaging, and reflective of his deep passion for the arts. As the Festival Director of the Asia Pacific Arts Festival, Stanley leads with a vision to promote cultural exchange and artistic collaboration. He continues to shape the next generation of musicians through his work with the PPMUM Ukestra and as a performer with the CrossStrings Duo and the Rafflesia Guitar Quartet.
